TWO STEP QUICK CLEANSING ROUTINE:

This article is dedicated to both men and women. Proper face cleansing is important at every age and stage and concerns everyone.

A proper cleansing routine after a long day is vital for the renewal of your skin cells. When sleeping, the skin goes to work and rebuilds itself. It is essential to remove impurities off of facial skin and neck daily; let it breathe and repair itself. Proper cleansing and moisturising every day and night should become a second nature to us all. Along the brushing of teeth, of course. We are only given one face in our lifetime so it is our duty to keep it fresh and hydrated! This will also help to delay any signs of ageing in the long run.

Today we are discussing two products that are targeted to acne prone skin and have helped us in the past in stressful periods to get rid of acne and help balance our skin. Different skin types have different needs, for best results before using any product that is out there it would be better to consult with a dermatologist or an aesthetician to help you identify the needs of your skin in particular.

STEP 1: Effaclar Micellar Water

This first product we are discussing today is the la roche posay micellar water. It is a gentle face cleanser and overall a good product for removing impurities off the face.

Plenty of times I find myself removing my makeup with a micellar water first as it feels quite gentle on my skin and removes most of the products. With this particular micellar water I would say the removal would work with a more lightweight makeup application. I have tried many micellar waters to remove my makeup and I wouldn’t say that this one in particular is on the top of my list, especially when it comes to removing waterproof mascara. It takes a lot of product and countless cotton pads. I prefer to use it mostly on days that I'm wearing lighter makeup. It leaves the skin shining and oil free and without irritating or drying it. If you are a guy still wondering if this product is for you, go ahead and use it straight away. It has a neutral scent and feels like water.

Bioderma's micellar water works a little better on my skin at least when I need it for heavier makeup removing. We have discussed another more affordable micellar water that works and is targeted for sensitive skin here.

When you use any type of micellar water, don’t forget to rinse your face with water ! You don’t want the ingredients that these cleansers contain to sit on your face for long. If you are not currently travelling or need a smaller bottle for any other reason, I would suggest getting the 400ml one as it works out as a more affordable option ($19.99 - 400ml compared to $14.99 - 200ml) for both cleansing steps.

STEP 2: Effaclar Gel Cleanser

A one step cleansing method is not enough for both men and women, especially when you are wearing sunscreen on your face or any type of product with SPF in it. SPF is difficult to remove completely with just micellar water, therefore it would be ideal to double cleanse in order to leave the skin breathing properly without any nasty ingredients on it.

It is a soap free gel cleanser. That alone means it is a gentle face cleanser and does not contain soap which makes it perfect for oily - acne prone skin. Hard soaps might remove the oil on your skin at first but they mess with the sebaceous glands (the glands that are responsible for oil control) and result in more production of oil. This is not something we want, especially for acne prone skin. So, if you have this type of skin, look for products that are targeted for these issues and are gentle for your specific skin type. Everyone’s skin it different and has different needs.

This bottle lasts for a long time and you can keep it near your sink or even in your shower. It feels refreshing when you are having a shower to cleanse your face too! It leaves your skin clean and shine free, but you might need to add a moisturizer after, especially if it feels a bit dry.

Both products contain Zinc that helps remove excess oil and are alcohol, paraben and oil free.
