Welcome to another round of battles! We're letting the BB vs all competition rest and decided to bring the battle to two waterproof mascara tubes. Every makeup collection needs at least one good waterproof mascara. We're here to shed some light on the matter and help decide which one should make the cut. Let the battles begin!

Our first contestant is the Diorshow Waterproof Mascara in jet black. This mascara promises to lengthen, thicken and curve the lashes, even if we're swimming at the beach. I will admit that I've never actually worn this to swim so I cannot guarantee that it'll stay in place even then. However, I've worn it in the rain or in extreme humidity and it held its ground. It's ideal for situations where happy tears might occur (weddings, graduation, everyday with your puppy) as it won't smear all around the eyes. The wand is quite big so it's essential to be careful when applying. Get as close to the mirror as possible and apply with small strokes so it doesn't end up on the lid of the eye. It separates the lashes and'll help avoid any clumpiness. I did not notice any volume and that rarely happens to me because I already have thick and long lashes. Virtually anything I do to my lashes will give them some type of volume. This can be easily taken care of if I use an eyelash curler first. I can't say I'm ecstatic about this mascara, it doesn't truly offer much to my lashes. For situations where a waterproof mascara is necessary though, I'll choose to use it. The price tag is surely something to consider, especially if this won't be used daily and mascara tubes tend to dry quickly. We have the solution for that already, right?

On the opposing side, is the Kiko extra sculpt waterproof mascara. Similar to the Dior, it has a thick wand. Their only difference is in the curve. The Dior one has a slight outward curve and the Kiko has an inward thick curve. The wand is comfortable to use and the formula is waterproof. I would say this is a good everyday mascara which lasts all day long without flaking. However, I wouldn’t recommend swimming while wearing it. It has a voluminous and lengthening effect and more often than not, I'll layer this mascara on top of other mascara for that extra wow effect. It is not chunky and applies evenly on my lashes.

Needless to say, KIKO has done an excellent job and the price is unbeatable. It is easy to remove with micellar water which is a huge plus for me when it comes to waterproof mascara. The mascara comes in a stylish tube that makes it easy to find in your makeup bag because it stands out. Waterproof-wise I wouldn’t say that it is the best mascara in the market but it is a well priced, all-day lasting and comfortable to use. The tube has a lot of product and it does not dry quickly which again is a huge plus. Kiko has surprised us quite a few times with their products so I would recommend checking out their website or visiting a store. They have affordable and well-performing formulas!

It can not replace the Dior mascara but it is a good dupe. Try it out and let us know what you think in the comments below.

  1. Removing waterproof mascara needs some extra work. Use a micellar water for your eyes and gently rub.
