  • Sugar

  • Olive oil/ Castor oil

  • Vanilla powder

Three quick recipes to give you smooth velvety lips in no time!

With proper care and moisturising lips look juicier, fuller and healthier. Who doesn’t want that? Equalia team, religiously applies custom made lip balms every night before sleep. We always experiment with our beauty routines but this is a step that stays the same. Lip nourishment is important and we will explain why!

Did you know that when the cosmetic recipes started spreading through printed press they were alongside food recipes? Taking care of one’s self and more particularly skin is a need that people have had since day one. Your lips (and smile), are a prominent feature on your face. Except from eating of course they help us express our feelings. The skin on our lips differs from the rest of our face. It’s thinner and it lacks of sebaceous glands - which are responsible to lubricate our skin and hair. That’s why we have the need to moisturise our lips more often.

A simple scrub recipe, which will help you remove the dead skin and improve the circulation - resulting to reacher colour on your lips!

STEP 1 - LIP SCRUB:

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar 
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla powder (optional)

How to:

 Mix everything well and apply. Exfoliate your lips until they become slightly red.

*If you don’t have the time to do this, just get a toothbrush with a little bit of olive oil on top and brush your lips gently for a minute.

 

STEP 2 - LIP MASK:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of rosewater

Mix well an apply on your lips. Leave on for 10-15mins.

 

STEP 3 - LIP BALM:

WITHOUT COLOUR

Ingredients:

  • 15g Beeswax
  • 50ml olive or castor oil
  • 5ml honey (1 teaspoon)

How to:

Place the beeswax in a bain-marie on medium heat and wait until it becomes liquid. Add the oil of your choice and mix well with a spatula or a spoon. Turn off the heating wait for a little bit and then add the honey. Place the mixture in a clear jar and keep it on your bedside table. Discontinue use after 3 months. Make a fresh one!

 

LIP BALM WITH COLOUR:

Add to the mixture above some colour! For a more natural approach, add food colouring in any shade you like. Start with a couple of drops and mix well. Add as much as you want to get your perfect customised coloured lip balm/gloss!

 

OTHER INGREDIENTS YOU CAN ADD:

 

Feel free to add ingredients that you like (and you are not allergic to). Remember you can always add some drops of cinnamon essential oil that helps with blood circulation, and vanilla powder to add a nice scent to it; any edible ingredient that comes to mind! Experiment and make your own customised lip product! Do not forget though, before you add anything of your choice to check if it is suitable for the purpose that you want to, in order to get the best result possible!

 

PS. Please do not use vaseline on your lips! And don’t forget to apply SPF on your lips too!


TIPS:

  1. Apply the lip balm every night and try to use the scrub 1-2 times per week.
  2. Try not to lick your lips often because they get get dehydrated.
  3. Remember to drink half your weight in ounces of water everyday. It will help with dehydration and overall health.
